Self-limiting Acute Closed-angle Glaucoma with Segmental Iris Shortening.

چکیده
TBE purpose of this communication is to record a series of cases of acute closed-angle glaucoma which appear to have resolved permanently without operation because of shortening of a segment of the iris. This shortening of a segment of the iris has been great enough, we believe, in these cases to eliminate relative "pupillary block" and therefore iris bombe; enough residual angle has then opened, especially inferiorly, to allow adequate drainage of aqueous humour. Such a mode of resolution of acute closedangle glaucoma seems to be more common than was considered when its occurrence was mentioned previously (Phillips, 1956). The Figure shows a typical example.

Gonioscopic Features in Patients with Acute and Chronic Angle-Closure Glaucoma
Background: A number of ocular biometric parameters, iris hiotologic and anatomic characters have been suggested as inciting factors for converting patients with narrow angle to angle-closure glaucoma. This study was conducted to determine if there was any goniscopic difference between patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma (AACG) and chronic angle-closure glaucoma (CACG). Methods: ...
متن کاملPlateau Iris – Therapeutic options and functional results after treatment
We present the therapeutic options and functional results in patients with plateau iris (syndrome or configuration) in consecutive case series. Material and method: Our study included newly diagnosed patients with acute angle closure by "plateau iris" (configuration or syndrome), between June 2016 and April 2017. Series of 8 consecutive patients met the inclusion criteria, all being females. Al...

Closed-angle glaucoma is the result of two mechanisms acting either separately or in combination: 1. Pupil block creates a greater pressure in the posterior than in the anterior chamber, pushing the iris on to the cornea. 2. Increased trabecular meshwork outflow in the presence of pupil block creates a lower pressure in the anterior chamber than in the posterior, pulling the iris on to the corn...

THmRE has been a recent revival of interest in the operation of peripheral iridectomy for subacute intermittent closed-angle glaucoma. This is partly because it is an operation of small risk which is effective, if its indications are respected. Its chief value is in subacute closed-angle glaucoma before peripheral anterior synechiae have formed and as a prophylactic measure when the fellow eye ...
متن کاملHypopyon and iris necrosis in angle-closure glaucoma. Report of two cases.
A mild anterior chamber aqueous flare and cellular response are common findings in acute angle-closure glaucoma. Chandler and Grant (I965) have noted that "discovery of a great many cells in the aqueous is perfectly consistent with the diagnosis of acute angle-closure glaucoma". We have recently seen two patients who had developed hypopyon during the course of their attacks of acute angle-closu...
